Normally universities in Bangladesh are divided into two categories. They are private and public university in Bangladesh. The universities in Bangladesh are ordinance and affiliated by the University Grant Commission (UGC).

The UGC is a commission which is created according to the Presidential Order.  Here I’m trying to give you a complete list of Universities in Bangladesh. All the universities are UGC approved university list in Bangladesh.

Public Universities in Bangladesh

The numbers of Public Universities in Bangladesh are 44. The public universities of any country are funded by the government. Two public universities have started their academic program this year. One is a general university and the other is a science and technology university.

Types of Universities

Post Graduate University

The Universities which deals only post graduation studies are known as post-grad universities. Almost all the public universities in Bangladesh provides post graduate degree but Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University is the only university for post graduate medical degee .

Agricultural Universities of Bangladesh : Agricultural universities Deals with the study related to agricultural science. Here is the list of Agricultural Universities of Bangladesh.

Science and Technology Universities: There are more than 10 Science and Technology universities in Bangladesh. Though they are related to science and technology. Some of the universities like SUST and some other universities provide graduation and post graduation degree for the business and Humanities subjects

Maritime Universities of Bangladesh: There is only one maritime public university in Bangladesh. It is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU). It is the 37th public universities in Bangladesh. It offers graduate and postgraduate degree along with research facilities

Textile universities: Though there are several private textile universities in Bangladesh but only one public textile university in Bangladesh. BUTEX is only the public text universities.

Universities of engineering technology: There are 5 universities of engineering technology. Among them BUET is the best university. Other leading universities are CUET, KUET , RUET . DUET is for the students of Technical Education Boards.

Universities of General Educations: Many universities for general education are established by Bangladesh Government. Here you will get the top level universities like DU , CU. Veterinary Universities: There is only one veterinary and Animal Science University in Bangladesh. Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is in Chittagong
