As you are reading this post, I am pretty sure you are going launch a new website or going to check the options are missing on your site. This article “site pre-launch checklist” will assist on your web journey.
I love WordPress. That’s the reason this pre-launch checklist of a site is based on WordPress. This list is my personal list. You can add or remove any points according to your demand.

Website Pre-launch Checklist

1

Database Security

Security is the prime concern of your website. Your great website will be destroyed if the security level is low. So the very first thing of security is to secure your database. To make it secure

a)Database Name, User Name, and Password: These should be different from website name or brand name. Keep your password safe.
B)Database prefix: By default, WordPress sets database prefix as “Wp_.” I will recommend changing the database prefix

2

Wordpress User Name

Most of the people do common mistake by using the common username “admin.” To break your security using login panel, one needs to meet two data. First one is the username, and the other is password.

3

Change the login Messages

If you put any username in WordPress login URL, it will show the message. Your username is wrong. If they put right username, then it shows password is incorrect. Sick minded people can easily find out the username by this message. To change the database user name, you can put the following code in functions.php file from the editor.

add_filter(‘login_errors’, create_function(‘$no_login_error’, ‘return “The Information doesn’t match”‘));
4

Check Browser Compatibility

Make sure that your website is compatible with different browser e.g. Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc.One can quickly check the browser compatibility through the following free tool.

Browser Compatibility Checker: browsershots.org

While checking browser compatibility, don’t forget to check your fonts, images, etc.

The following tools can ensure you whether your website is compatible with device or not

6

Validation and Mark up

You must know, one of the ranking factors of Google is W3 Validation and schema markup. Google likes structure data. It helps to provide the rich snippet. W3C validation totally depends on the coding style.

Google structured data testing tools provide the information about your structure data. To use advanced markup for my website, I love JSON-LD Plugin.

In recent Google updates, AMP is now of the high ranking factors. So before launching your website, check whether it is AMP compatible or not.

8

Good Navigational Planning

Excellent navigational is system is part and parcel of a website. Think about a post. If you can reach the position within three clicks indicates you have a good navigational system. Otherwise, re-think about your navigational plan.

Images and Rich Medias are relevant for your site. But improper optimization can make the site slow. It is recommended to optimize your images for your website. I prefer two ways of optimization.
a) Manual Optimization: Open your picture in Photoshop. Resize it. Then save it for the web.
b) Using Plugin: There are many plugins to optimize photos. Among them, I like Wp Smush plugin.

10

Optimizing Speed

The website is speed is more important than several other factors. The more speed, the more visitors. Test your site on Pingdom Tools, G Matrix, and Google Speed Checker. Try to make the highest score on Google speed checker.
The Following factors you may consider to speed up your site.
