Here in this piece, we are going to discuss everything about May Day.
May Day History
In the year of 1886, there was a mass movement that grew massively for eight-hours workday. Previously workers had to work for more than eight hours a day, so the general workers started the movement, and it end up as a strike.
On 4th day of the same year, an unnoticed man threw a bomb while the police tried to disperse a whole assembly in support of worker’s strike. It got worse when the bomb took seven police officers and at least four civilians dead. There were more than sixty policemen injured as well as an unnoticed number of civilians also injured on that incident.

After the incident, strikers got the sympathy of the public, though later the government round them up, and four of them we executed by hanging after a short trial. However, the execution was a complete miscarriage of justice; at least people see the event like this.
The strikers got angry at the event, and the next day on 5th May, the state militia threw fires on a crowd of those strikers that ended up killing seven strikers, along with a schoolboy and a man who was feeding chickens in his yard.

After the horrible events occurred and many deaths took place, the 1st and 5th May 1886 trade union and labor movement organizer choose 1st May to celebrate the as the day of labor as well as International Workers Day in the late 19th century.
That was the whole story of how 1st May become the International Labour Day or workers day.
