In the modern world energy and wealth are being used so excessively and for so many purposes that day by day the balance between various forces and elements of nature is being disrupted. Consequently, everything in nature is running towards an inevitable side-effect called the Green House Effect.

In the polar regions one kind of house is made of glass for growing crops in it. When the rays of the sun fall on earth their wave-length is so small that they fall on the soil inside the house without heating the glass-walls. When those rays are reflected by the earth, their wave-length gets larger and thus they can easily heat the glass-walls. This process of artificially heating up the glass-houses is called the green house effect. Though it is fundamentally the name of a scientific process, now we refer by it to a dangerous effect being caused in the atmosphere.

For various scientific reasons, nowadays the amount of carbon-di-oxide, mithen, nitrous oxide, cloroforo carbon are increasing the atmosphere. Consequently, when the rays of the sun, after being reflected by the earth, goes up with larger wavelengths, the above-mentioned gases get heated by it like the glass wall of the aforesaid greenhouses.

The result is obvious and fatal: the temperature of the atmosphere around the earth. increases more than normal. In this process, as the amount of those gases are increasing in the atmosphere, the temperature of the atmosphere over the earth is increasing day by day.

It is anticipated by scientists that by the year 2050; the amount of these gases will double and this phenomenon will be followed by an increase in the temperature by 1.05°C 4.50°C. And in the next fifty years, such increases in the atmosphere will bring about an unimaginable change in this planet of ours.

This effect will tell upon the earth in a dangerous way. By the middle of the next century, as a result of the increase in the temperature of the atmosphere, ices in the polar regions will begin to thaw and will come down on to the seas. As an inevitable result, the water level will go higher. Many low areas of the earth will go underwater. Moreover, rainfall and the intensity of storms will increase dramatically. Then life will be very hard on earth.

The low-land countries like Bangladesh will have to suffer the most. As far as our country is concerned, if the water-level goes one meter higher, then about 16% of the land of this country will go under wate. As a result, about fifty 'thanas' of thirteen districts will be damaged. The existence of about 14% of the cultivable land and 28% of the forest will be destroyed.

The fate of about one crore people will be doomed to uncertainty. What is more, according to surveys made by the scientists, we will suffer an aggregate loss of about 20 lakh tonnes of rice, 13 thousand tonnes of wheat, 2 lakh and 14 thousand tonnes of sugarcane, and 4 lakh tonnes of vegetables. Moreover, there will be serious damages to houses, communications, and cattle.

As an inevitable consequence of the Green House effect, there will be a great change in the climate. The number and intensity of natural calamities will increase: drought, flood, cyclones, and tidal bores will threaten the existence of life. is ones?

But we can take the necessary steps not to let all these things happen in the near future. As the first measure, the emission of the Green House Gases is to be stopped. These gases are to be transformed into some other substances so as not to let them mix with the atmosphere.

Forests are to be saved from destruction. Moreover, we must take the necessary steps to increase the number of forests in the country. The people of the country are to be made aware of the consequences of the increase in the amount of Green House Gases in the atmosphere.

Many other countries will suffer damage like Bangladesh. So, as a preventive measure, the governments of these countries may put combined efforts to take necessary initiatives. The UNO should also come forward to make the whole world conscious about the dangers of the Green House Effect.

In conclusion, it can be said that we can save the earth, and we should. For this, all the countries, as well as the general people thereof, should be on the alert. And our determination should be to save this planet at any cost.

Greenhouse Effect Essay

Introduction: Green-house effect indicates natural imbalancement. It is dangerous for living creatures on earth. The Advertisement and progress of science have some influences on nature which cause greenhouse effects.

Greenhouse effect: The greenhouse effect is the gradual warming of the air surrounding the earth as a result of heat being trapped by environmental pollution.

Causes: There are many causes of greenhouse effects. The destruction and burning down of the tropical forests, traffic clogging up the city streets, the rapid growth of unplanned industries, the use of CFCs in packaging and manufacturing products, the use of detergents etc cause greenhouse effects.

Besides, overpopulation, pollution, deforestation, an increase in temperature, etc. are the causative factors of greenhouse effects. Overpopulation is a problem for any country. They need additional things for their survival. They need at least fundamental things - food, clothes, houses, Medicare, education. To provide them with dwelling places need to make or build houses.

Housing needs cutting off trees. It causes natural imbalance meant. The setting up of mills and factories in an unplanned way has a great effect on the environment. These mills and factories produce black smoke which gets mixed with air and pollutes it.

These mills and factories also use Insecticides and powerful chemicals to manufacture goods. The main culprits of greenhouse effects are carbon-die-oxide produced by the burning of fossil and fuels and forests and pollutants such as methane and CFCs. For this the surface temperature/heat Increases from 1.5° to 5.5o and causes green-house effects.

Dangers of the Greenhouse effect: The greenhouse effect is very dangerous for our existence and survival. It causes a great change in the weather and climate. The sun's scorching heat comes to earth in a direct way. The earth's surface becomes seriously heated. There will be an increase in a violent storm.

The rivers frequent floods which carry silent overflow their banks causing water to land and the land will lose it's alluvial and fertility. Agriculture, forestry, and fishery will seriously be damaged. Greenhouse effects make the climate warm which causes sea-water to swell up. The sea-costs will be overflooded and the sufferings of people of those areas will be untold knowing no bounds. There will be less quantity of oxygen.

Greenhouse effects in Bangladesh: Bangladesh is one of the overpopulated countries. Its population is large in comparison with her land area. Her density of population per square kilometer is about 700. If greenhouse effects continue going on in Bangladesh, she will be at a stake. Climatologists predict that midway through the present century, temperatures may have risen by 4°C.

This can catastrophically reduce mankind's grow food, destroy or severely damage wildlife and wilderness, raise sea levels, and thereby flood coastal areas and farmland. The alarming news about Bangladesh is that as a result of the rise of the sea level, the lower southern part of the country may go underwater.

Remedy: To prevent the dangerous effects of greenhouse necessary steps should immediately be taken. People should not be allowed to cut off trees which cause deforestation. Rather they will be advised and suggested to plant more and more trees in accordance with their capability and convenience. Campaign for tree plantation should be introduced and implemented.

Forests also control the natural balance. People should be made aware of it. Mills, factories, brick-fields should be set up in a very good planned way. Silencer pipes should carefully be set to pass out polluted air, gas, bad smell, and intolerable sounds. There should be a good drainage system to pass away waste materials, waste, and poisonous chemicals.

Conclusion: The world's climate will undergo a significant change, the temperatures will increase day by day for green-house effects. Unless green-house effecting causes are not controlled, no men, animals will be able to live, grow, and thrive.
