Of all the great men who were born in the 19th and 20th centuries, Rabindranath Tagore is the most famous them. He was born at Jorasanko in Kolkata on the 7th May 1861 in the famous Tagore family. He is not only eminent in the Indo Pak sub-continent but also in the whole world. I am really proud of him. To speak the truth, his writings have enriched the field of Bengali literature in a variety of ways.

Many of his writings have been translated into different languages. Consequently, the civilized world came in touch with Bengali literature and culture. He was honored with 'knighthood' in 1914 by the then British Government. But as a patriot, he disowned the same in protest of the atrocious massacre of Jalianwala Bagh at Punjab.

His early life was an interesting one. He had no regular school education. But his education was not neglected. From his very boyhood, he began to write poems of great merit and charm. Under the personal care of his father Debendranath Tagore, he gained a deep knowledge of Bengali, Sanskrit, and English by the different private tutors. A few years later, he was sent to England. He spent a few months with Prof. Henry Morley at the University of London studying English literature. In a short time, he returned home.

From the very early stage of his life, he began to compose poems. When he was a boy of fifteen, he wrote the first novel named Banaphool. Indeed, he was a man of uncommon literary achievement and versatile genius. That is, he was a poet, a dramatist, a story writer, a novelist, a critic, and an essayist. Some of his best poems. are found in the 'Gitanjali', 'Sonar Tari', 'Kheya', 'Kalpana', 'Balaka' etc. For this 'Gitanjali' he got the 'Nobel Prize,' in literature in 1913. His novels and plays are of high quality. His songs are now very popular in our country. He was a great educationist. He established a school at Shantiniketan and afterward founded the University of Viswa Bharati.

I admire him because he was a great poet as well as a great thinker of international repute. He will be remembered from generation to generation for his Bengali literary activities. He died on the 7th of August in 1941 and his death anniversary was full of glory and honor.

Favourite Author Essay-2

My favorite author is Rabindranath Thakur. Though he was originally and mainly a poet, he is unquestionably one of the best authors of fiction and articles of Bangla literature. It may be argued that as far as the author Rabindranath is concerned, there are others who deserve a priority in being ranked. I like reasoning more than arguing. And since I am talking of my own perception, I must doubtlessly aver that he is the most favorite author to me. Later on, however, I shall make a clean breast of why he is the most favourite author to me.

Rabindranath was born on May 7, 1861, to the then famous Thakur family of Jorashako, Calcutta. His father Sir Debendranath Thakur and grandfather Prince Darokanath Thakur were very well-known and important figures in the whole sub-continent at that time. Needless to say, more than a dozen members of that great Thakur family were all famous and successful people in literature, arts, philosophy, social work and reform and so on. They were a family of genius indeed.

Surprisingly enough, Rabindranath had no inclination to academic education. As a result, never in his life had he been able to continue his studies at any specific educational institution, and he had acquired no academic certificates in his life. He was even sent to London to study law at Cambridge, but this initiative of his guardians was in vain. Yet he broke the record of the literature of the whole world.

Rabindranath started thinking poetically from his early childhood. When he was only twelve, he published his first book titled "Prithiraj Parajoy." His first book of poetry "Banaful" was composed only when he was thirteen. From then on he went on writing and writing till his death.

Rabindranath was a multi-faceted genius. There is no branch of literature to which he did not contribute. He easily and triumphantly roamed about in the realm of literature and enriched, and in some cases created, many branches of it. From the womb of his golden pen were born numerous poems, songs, plays, novels, articles, essays, treatise etc. He invented some genres of dances as well. He was an outstanding reciter of poems. He was a good performer too.

It is dazzlingly surprising that he wrote so many books of poetry, novel, short story, prose etc that an endeavor to mention them here will increase the volume of this essay horrendously.

I have very clear explanations why Rabindranath is my most favourite author. He was a man who looked into life with a keen eye. Life unveiled its abstruse mysteries to him. He observed life both from near and afar. He puffed new senses and life and beauty into words, infused poetic perceptions with the tranquility of virtue. He gave poetry and essays the character and personality of epic. Whatever came forth through his pens was enchanting and soothing. His diction of writing prose is very attractive and, to be sure, completely inimitable.

Some hold the view that Rabindranath was an imperfect writer as he was indifferent about the life-struggle of the middle and lower-class people. But, in fact, a man who has the eyes keen enough and the mind mature enough will hardly dare make such audacious and stupid comments. Actually, what he wanted to observe and portray in his writings are the deep feelings conflicts and mysteries of life, rather than the way people live. He wanted to discover the unseen link between man's limited life and the eternal existence of the omnipresent entity. That is why it seems to me, he observed life from a different viewpoint rather than on the social structure that may and does, change over time. Consequently, his works will never cease to appeal his readers, no matter to whatever direction the society will change. He was above all classifications and stereotyping. He held the neutral  view that the way man lives is not important; what is important to observe is how he perceives life. As a result, his works have escaped themselves from the narrow limits of time and space.

To be frank, I do not have the acumen and skill to analyze his talent. Only what I can do is identify my own self with his work and perception. But surprisingly enough, when I endeavor to do so, I am taken aback by the infinite strength of his mind. I plunge into the world of his literary works. To me, he is one of the most reverend and extraordinary men of the world.

Favourite Author Essay-3

Introduction: I have got a chance to read the writings and compositions of many authors/poets. All of them are not my liking or favourite authors/poets. In fact, my favourite author/poet needs no further introduction to the nations of the world. He was a writer, poet, author, song composer, singer, revolutionary person etc.

Birth and parentage: Kazi Nazrul Islam was my favourite author/poet. He was born at Churulia in the district of Burdwan. His parents were Kazi Fakir Ahmed and Zaheda Khatun. His parents lost four children before his birth. Then they named him Dhukhu Miah after his birth.

His early life: His early life was very peculiar. He was very parentless. He had to struggle hard against pauperism. He was admitted to a local primary school when he was ten years old. But his early life was full of wants and poverty.

School life: The hard and fast rule of school life was not liked by him. So he could not pay attention to his studies. After completing his minor school, and maktab education he taught the village children the Koran. Then he fled away from home and became a baker's boy on a monthly salary of TK-1.00 (one) only. He also led an irregulated life.

His military life: When the World War began or broke out, he joined the war. In the army, he got the rank of Havildar. He composed songs in the army and became familiar as a poet.

His literary works: Nazrul Islam began his literary works at the beginning of his school life. During that period, he composed a number of poems. His songs inspired the people to fight for the country. He composed a poem entitled Birdhrohi against the Injustice, exploitation, and oppression of the British govt. The Regiment was banned. He returned to Kolkata. Then he edited the Dhumketu in which he published his revolutionary writings. The British Govt. sentenced him to jail for one year convicting him of this sort of writing. His best writings are Agni Beena, Bisher Banshi, Dolon Chanpa, Rikter Bedan, Bandhan Hara, Pralaya Shikha etc.

Why favourite to me?: He was very favorable to me for various reasons. His writings were full of hopes and aspirations, energy and juvenile spirit, love and affection, joys and sorrows. When the national life was under foreign rule, the national life was exploited ruthlessly. He began to write protesting against it. To the nation and the land, he gave the guidelines. He inculcated the idea he had into the mind of the common people. He encouraged the people who were under the soporific influence of slavery, He made them conscious of their legal rights. He encouraged them to fight for independence in order to break the bondage of slavery.

His nature: Nazrul Islam was very favourite to me for his excellent nature. He was very honest to the penny. He did not like to compromise with any injustice, ill-treatment, and oppression. He had a firm confidence in the supreme power of the Creator. He struggled for the country all through his lifetime event at the very end of his life.

His illness: Nazrul Islam was an example of many things. He never thought of his life and family. His family was not well-off for he had no sound family life. He did everything not for his family but for others. He had nothing to contribute to his family. He extended his hands towards his friends and well-wishers for help. Suddenly he fell ill so seriously that he lost his power of movement and speech. He remained as a bed-ridden patient for the last thirty years. He passed the days without creative activities.

His contribution: My favourite poet made a great contribution to our nation and literature as well. He has made our literature flourished in the world. The whole nation got inspired by his writings.

As a rebel poet: No other poet was as rebel as my favourite poet. His voice removed the nation's fear in all respects to establish its legal claim in the form of the world's conscience.

Death: He breathed his last on the 29th of August in 1976.

Conclusion: My favourite author is no more. But he will remain ever fresh in my memory forever. His song and gojhals are now very popular in our country. So, I love him best.
